Mike starts his story with vivid details about an abusive childhood lived in poverty and how he escaped by joining the Navy. During his time with the Underwater Demolition Team (precursor to Navy Seals), he talks about the intense training, the close bonds he formed and the dangerous work, including taking pictures of the missiles in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis and later aboard the USS Thuban. After the military, Mike outlines his career in engineering and property management, forever the teacher and mentor to others (hence the nickname “The Godfather”). From there, he recounts his lifelong love and devotion to family, friends, community and faith.
